We Use Cutting Edge Equipment

At McCauley Celin Eyecare, our Doctors believe that using the latest technology helps provide our patients with the best possible care. We pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of science by having the most up-to-date medical equipment available in the field of optometry.

Optomap

OptoThe Optomap Retinal Exam is an advanced technique used to capture images of the retina. It is a fast, easy, and comfortable test that can eliminate the need for dilation drops in some patients. The image produced by the Optomap may be used to help diagnose many eye conditions including macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments. It can also help monitor systemic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure. These images will be kept in your patient file and will be compared to future images. Keeping a catalog of these tests will allow your doctor to detect changes to your eye occurring over time.

The Optomap provides an interesting opportunity for you to learn about your eye as well. Using your Optomap as a guide, “tour” your retina with your doctor and learn about the

OCT

OctoOptical Coherence Tomography represents the latest, most cutting-edge technology available to the field of optometry. Our Zeiss Cirrus OCT provides an MRI-like, cross- sectional view of the complex anatomy of the retina. This technology allows us to examine the eye so closely that it is almost possible to see the individual cells of the retina. This procedure enables us to check for retinal defects such as fluid or blood caused by systemic disease, aging, or trauma. This device is helpful in evaluating cataract patients, both before and after surgery, and also in assessing patients for early signs of glaucoma and glaucomatous change.

Corneal Topography

HRTCorneal Topography allows us to make a topographical “map” of your cornea. Since your cornea is the top layer or structure representing the surface of your eye and is the main structure responsible for focusing your eye, even a small irregularity to this structure could cause significant problems in your vision.

The topography equipment measures and displays a detailed, digital image of the cornea. The creation of this image is critical in the evaluation of the eye for refractive surgery procedures, contact lens-induced irregularities, trauma or degenerative eye disease. Corneal Topography is quick and painless, but results in a big difference in our ability to detect and treat any corneal defects. It also gives our doctors a permanent map of your cornea to store in your records.
